Getting Around

By Air

Exploring Madison is convenient and straightforward, thanks to the facilities at Madison Municipal Airport (FAA LID: 52A). This city-owned public airport is located just two miles northeast of Madison’s downtown. It features a single asphalt runway, designated 14/32, measuring 3,806 by 75 feet.

The terminal building, which has recently undergone improvements, serves as the operational hub and provides a warm welcome to pilots and visitors. Additionally, the City of Madison offers a courtesy car for those visiting the terminal, making it easy to get around.

By Car

With all there is to explore in Madison and Morgan County, getting around by car is definitely your easiest option. Plus, parking around downtown Madison is plentiful and free! All street-parking is free for up to 2 hours. If you need to stay longer, off-street parking is available as marked in the map below and out-of-town visitors are welcome to park outside the Madison Welcome Center all day.

Need to Charge Your Electric Vehicle?

Need to charge your Tesla?  You’ll find a Tesla Supercharger Station right next to the Hampton Inn. This station has 8 Superchargers, up to 250kW, available 24/7.

For all other electric vehicles, recharge at the ChargePoint Charging Station located behind Captain D’s.  This station has one CHAdeMO 62.5 kW, one CCS 62.5 kW and two J1772 7.2 kW bays available 24/7.

Bringing your bike to Morgan County? Biking around our small towns and the greater countryside is very popular. If you need a break while in downtown Madison, bike racks are plentiful with racks surrounding Town Park as well as along East Jefferson and East Washington Streets in Madison’s downtown square.

By Public Transit

The Morgan County Transit System provides public transportation within the county by reservation. Operating from 6:00 am – 5:15 pm, reservations must be made by 4:45 pm the business day before your trip to guarantee service. Call (706) 342-4052 to schedule your ride.
