Tractors ride through parade at Rutledge Country Fair
May 25 - 27, 2024

Memorial Day Activities

41st Annual Rutledge Country Fair at Rutledge’s City Park on May 25 from 10am to 4pm. Family fun awaits with live music, food, markets and a kids’ corner. 

Get ready to boogie on the Madison – Morgan Cultural Center Front Lawn to the groovy sounds of The Original Splitz Band. This FREE Memorial Day Weekend concert “Funk on the Lawn” will be on Saturday, May 25th from 5:30 – 8:30pm.

Memorial Day Celebration & Ride for America at Madison Town Park on May 27 from 11am to 12pm.  Join Main Street, the American Legion and around 1,000 motorcyclists honoring the men and women who have died while in military service to our nation.

June 8 - 9, 2024

Celebrating Eugene Swain

Join us for a special weekend of events honoring and celebrating the life and artwork of late self-taught Morgan County artist Eugene Swain during his birthday weekend.

Attend a special presentation of honoring Eugene Swain, who served as the MCAAM’s Local Artist in Residence. The Proclamation for Eugene Swain will be held at the Morgan County African-American Museum on Saturday, June 8th from 11am to 1pm.

The family of Eugene Swain invites you to a special birthday celebration! The Paint & Sip Party: Eugene Swain will take place at the Steffen Thomas Museum of Art on Saturday, June 8th at 2pm and 4pm. 

The Madison-Morgan Cultural Center is proud to present an exhibition of over 70 works by late artist, Eugene Swain. Come celebrate the Madison Collects: Eugene Swain Exhibit Opening at the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center on Sunday, June 9th from 2pm to 4pm.

Steffen Thomas Museum of Art presents "Peace in Our Time"

Marjorie and Richard Lowrance were active collectors of Steffen Thomas art for over sixty years, becoming close friends with the artist. The Lowrances generously bequeathed their impressive collection to STMA. Representing some of the very best of Steffen’s art, this important body of work will be on view from January 23 to July 23, 2024.
