Hundred Acre Farm, just outside of beautiful Madison, Georgia, is presenting an introductory guided forest therapy walk on their certified forest therapy trail. Forest therapy is a deep-sensory practice of taking in the forest atmosphere modeled after Japanese "shinrin-yoku" or "forest-bathing." The health benefits — lower stress hormones, lower blood pressure, and increased immunity — are supported by scientific evidence. Join us to learn how you can benefit!
Our walk will begin at 2 p.m. at the River Trail trailhead. Parking and restrooms are available at the Red Barn. Walk down from the Red Barn and turn right; the trailhead is on the left and marked with a sign. We will walk very slowly, stop often, and sit for periods of time, so it is a very low-intensity activity. Unlike a hike, we are not concerned with getting to a certain place by a certain time — we are interested in deepening our sense of presence and our connection to the natural world.
* This walk is designed for adults or older teens.
* Wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the season and the temperature.
* Forest therapy walks continue in light rain unless the threat of lightning or hypothermia is present. Bring rain gear and an umbrella if rain is in the forecast, including waterproof shoes. Splashing in puddles is fun!
* Bring water, insect repellent, a hat/cap and a day pack large enough to carry these items (and rain gear, if needed). For more information Click Here
