March 6, 2018 –
In this mid-afternoon workshop with Chef Linda Rivers, you will learn about the history of the delicious British treat known as a scone and learn proper techniques for making these scrumptious pastry treats built upon the simplest ingredients: flour, fat and milk!
Linda will demonstrate her scone-making process, step-by-step, for creating the lightly sweetened, biscuit-like cakes that make tea-time (or anytime!) so much lovelier.
You will leave with Linda’s favorite scone recipe, a goodie-bag of her scones, and firsthand knowledge of how a British baker makes magic!
It’s the perfect experience for an aspiring baker, a ladies’ day out (grab lunch in the cafe beforehand and then come to class!), or a little miniature get-away for the Anglophile in the family!
Suitable for ages 16 and up
- Chef Linda Rivers graduated Summa Cum Laude from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, Atlanta in May 2008. In 2009 her goal of opening a tea room was realized when Holly Cottage Tea Room opened its doors in Newnan, GA. As the owner and executive chef, Linda and her staff of six well-trained and knowledgeable servers offered a wide selection of traditional made-from-scratch tea sandwiches, pastries, petit fours, truffles, and scones. Holly Cottage Tea Room achieved the reputation as the 4th out of 64 best tea rooms in Georgia, and customers came from as far away as South and North Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, and Florida. With her English heritage, Linda is passionate and well-versed in making scones which are a staple in every British home. Although the tea room is no longer in business, Linda is delighted to share her love and knowledge of making scones with others.
