Emissaries of Peace: 1762 Cherokee and British Delegations. This traveling exhibit, on loan from the Museum of the Cherokee Indian, presents the story of Lt. Henry Timberlake and Cherokee leader Ostenaco as they journeyed to each other’s countries in 1762, as Emissaries of Peace. The contrast between their cultures is shown in this exhibit. The exhibit is based on Timberlake’s Memoirs, along with period artwork, artifacts from archeology and historical collections, and other 18th century accounts.
Tools of the Trade Exhibit at Steffen Thomas Museum
March 16 – April 22
Most exhibitions focus on the finished work of art and the end result of an artist’s creative process, but Tools of the Trade emphasizes and highlights the materials and processes used by Master Artist Steffen Thomas during the creation and production of his works of art. By showcasing the studio tools, sketches and models that Thomas utilized, this exhibition offers an intimate look into Steffen Thomas as an artist and an individual. The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday 11 AM – 4 PM or by appointment. 706-342-7557. 4200 Bethany Road, Buckhead (5 miles outside Madison).
